About

Justine Draws

Hey, I’m Justine.

An illustrator, dog lover, textile designer, interior-design-obsessed maximalist, art collector, and a sucker for a perfectly styled gallery wall (which I’m constantly building, tweaking, and rearranging).

This whole thing kicked off with one drawing. I sketched our dog as a surprise gift for my husband, hoping to capture her gentle soul and those innocent eyes. His response?

“How the f*** did you do that?! You need to put your art out there and do this for people.”

And just like that, Justine Draws was born.

What began as a personal keepsake quickly grew into something much bigger...

Since that first portrait, I’ve been creating custom, hand-drawn pet art that goes far beyond a simple photo — thoughtful, one-of-a-kind tributes made with pencil, pixels, and plenty of coffee.

There are lots of pet photos out there but this is different. Each piece is a slow, intentional way to honour your pet and all the weird, wonderful love they bring into your life.

Whether drawn on paper or digitally on my tablet, every portrait begins with your story and ends with a piece of art made to last. My background in textile and print design still shapes how I work — because a portrait shouldn’t just be a likeness. It should feel like art, and look right at home on your wall.

At the end of the day, this isn’t just about drawing animals.

It’s about honouring love, memory, and connection. Whether you're celebrating a new pup, remembering a beloved friend, or gifting someone something truly personal — thank you for letting me be a part of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Commissions typically take 4–8 weeks from the time I receive your order. This time frame may vary based on the complexity of the piece and my current workload. I work on multiple projects at once to ensure each piece gets the attention it deserves.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Once your artwork is approved, please allow up to 3-5 business days for shipping. Delivery times vary depending on location and carrier, especially around peak seasons (hello, Christmas

Why my eye matters?

Before portraits, I worked in fashion and textiles — designing prints, obsessing over colour palettes, and learning how to style with intention. That background shapes everything I create now. It’s not just about drawing pets; it’s about crafting artwork that feels right in your home.

My work blends thoughtful design, trained technique, and real emotion. From paper texture to tonal balance, every detail is considered to create something personal, meaningful, and truly you.

I’m not a traditional “art world” artist — I’m a creative through and through, and this is how I stay grounded. The work I create is full of heart, connection, and personality. And at the end of the day, it’s about making something you’ll love seeing in your space, every single day.

Why choose hand-drawn art in a world full of quick prints and filters?

I believe art should be timeless, heartfelt, and deeply personal - not mass-produced or trendy for the sake of it. I’m building a brand rooted in warmth, design, nostalgia, and real connection. Every part of the experience matters to me - from the artwork itself to the wrapping, the packaging, and the feeling you get when you open it. I’m not trying to imitate anyone else’s style - this brand is an extension of who I am: A creative with a soft spot for interiors, a love for animals, and a belief that good design tells a story.

What kind of portraits do you offer - and who are they for?

I offer a range of portrait styles to suit different tastes and budgets - from bold, highly detailed digital pieces to quiet, elegant pencil sketches. I don’t limit myself creatively, because that’s what keeps the work true.

This is more than just pet portraits - it’s the start of a broader creative vision built around interiors, textiles, emotion, and stories that last.

If you love your pets, love your space, and want something that feels like you, then you’re in the right place.
Thanks for being here - I can’t wait to create something special for you.

Do you draw people too, or just pets?

Just pets! Animals are my happy place - their quirks, expressions, and the way they love us without words. Drawing people feels a bit too much like homework (and less like joy), so I focus my energy where it flows best. If you’re after a portrait that includes a person, I might not be the right fit - but if it’s furry, feathered, or four-legged, I’m your girl.

Are these drawn by hand or digitally?

Both! It depends on the package you choose. The Timeless and Keepsake packages are traditional pencil or coloured pencil on paper. The Statement package is hand-drawn digitally - no filters, no AI, just me, my tablet, and lots of layering.
